Mirogabalin exhibits high selectivity for the α2δ subunits of voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs), particularly in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG). By reducing calcium ion influx, it suppresses the release of neurotransmitters at presynaptic nerve terminals, effectively decreasing neural hyperexcitability and relieving neuropathic pain.
Adults: Start with 5 mg twice daily. The dose may be increased in 5 mg increments weekly, up to a maximum of 15 mg twice daily.
The effective dose typically ranges between 10 mg and 15 mg twice daily, adjusted based on age and clinical response.
Common side effects may include:
Rare but serious reactions:
Impaired consciousness, fainting, or excessive drowsiness
Symptoms of liver dysfunction: fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and jaundice
Discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider immediately if any of these occur.
Mirogabalin does not inhibit or induce cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzymes.
